Jared Mayers

Jared Mayers, M.D., Ph.D., is a fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and joined the Balskus group in the spring of 2021 after completing his clinical training. He previously earned his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working in the laboratory of Matthew Vander Heiden, M.D., Ph.D. where he studied branched-chain amino acid metabolism in Kras-mutant cancers. His current research interests center on identifying and understanding microbial metabolic behaviors in critical illness. Outside of the hospital and lab, he enjoys running and spending time with his family.
